Dr. Virginia (she/her) struggled with eczema ever since childhood. In 2018, a severe flare-up affected her entire body, making it difficult to get dressed, shower, or sleep. Western medicine offered a cortisone shot that provided quick relief, but it didn’t address the root cause. Told it was stress-related, Virginia felt there had to be a deeper explanation.

Her search led her to Amy, here at Constellation, who helped her understand why her symptoms were flaring. With regular acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, her condition gradually improved. As she started feeling better, she became curious about the medicine itself and began borrowing books from the clinic. After one particularly transformative acupuncture session, she knew she wanted to study this medicine more deeply.

Virginia graduated in 2024, summa cum laude, with both a Master of Science in Traditional Asian Medicine and a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine from the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College (AIMC) in Berkeley, California. She is nationally certified by the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine). Her passion for East Asian medicine has taken her beyond the classroom and across the globe—she studied Japanese-style pediatric acupuncture (Shonihari) at Morinomiya University of Medical Sciences in Osaka, and Japanese-style cosmetic acupuncture at Shikoku Medical College in Japan.

As part of her medical training, Virginia supported patients with a range of concerns. She has worked with Division I athletes at UC Berkeley, treating a wide range of sports-related injuries. She was inspired by how Cal student-athletes balanced intense physical training with rigorous academics, which sparked her ongoing interest in sports medicine. She also provided community-style acupuncture at the Lucasfilm campus in San Francisco where she treated patients mostly for musculoskeletal pain and stress-related conditions, such as insomnia, anxiety, fatigue, and menstrual irregularities. Her work in both settings affirmed her desire to make injury recovery and stress management central aspects of her clinical practice.

In the treatment room, Virginia strives to create a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental space where individuals feel seen, heard, and supported. She meets patients where they are and helps them reconnect with their own healing process. Having started as a patient at Constellation herself, she’s come full circle and is grateful to now be a practitioner in the same space that supported her own healing. Her goal is to help others feel more balanced and at ease, so they can spend more time doing what they love.

Outside of the clinic, Virginia enjoys sharing simple tips on how to live in tune with the seasons through her Instagram (@virginialma). An enthusiastic K-pop fan, she loves attending concerts and often features her favorite songs in her posts. She’s also passionate about travel and enjoys hearing stories about others’ adventures. A true foodie at heart, she loves connecting over delicious food—don’t be surprised if she asks you what’s for dinner!

I first came to Virginia during a particularly tough and transitional time in my life. I was seeking support with a chronic illness of emotional origin and had run out of luck with other doctors and even other acupuncturists. After some of my first treatments with Virginia, I’d felt like my body had done a complete 180 in the right direction and began to feel more like myself almost right away. All in all, she is a laser-focused, intuitive, and incredibly caring acupuncturist who I felt like really took the time to understand what made my case unique and how to best treat it from all different angles.

As a spin instructor battling chronic knee pain, finding Virginia was truly a game-changer. After just a couple of treatments, my pain completely disappeared, allowing me to return to my workouts at full strength.

Virginia’s exceptional skill and precision are remarkable - she knows exactly where to place the needles and how to adjust each treatment perfectly. Her calming presence makes each session not just physically therapeutic but deeply relaxing.

I especially recommend Virginia to other athletes and active individuals. Her understanding of body mechanics combined with her kind personality creates a healing experience that goes beyond physical relief. If you’re considering acupuncture, I can’t recommend Virginia highly enough - she’s transformed my approach to managing my health.

Before my sessions with Virginia, my health was suffering. I couldn’t exercise, my moods were imbalanced, I was overweight, had high blood pressure, and I was struggling with my mental health to the point I was isolating myself. Once I started working with Virginia, I started to see changes in my health. Even during that first session I felt tremendous relief physically, emotionally and mentally - I became lighter. After a few more sessions, my body started getting back into harmony. My moods were stabilizing, I was making healthier choices which I started to lose weight, my blood pressure normalized and overall felt balanced mentally and physically.... I would recommend anyone to go see her if you are struggling mentally or physically. She is a true healer and is amazing at what she does.”
